Dress Code

We do have a uniform policy at Laurel Academy.  We will again be using Carrusel for school uniforms.  You can visit the Carrusel store if you are unable to come to the school on this date.  There will be other uniform sale dates scheduled throughout the school year.

Listed below are uniform guidelines:

Uniforms

All students in grades K – 8 will be required to wear uniforms.  The school uniform colors will be the following:

  • Boys – blue or khaki pants or shorts; navy or white polo shirts, or Laurel shirt
  • Girls – blue or khaki pants, shorts*, skirts**, skorts, or jumpers; navy or white polo shirts, or Laurel shirt

*Shorts should be no shorter than middle of the thigh

**Skorts, skirts and jumpers should reach the knee

PE Uniforms will be required for students in grades 6, 7 and 8.  Students should wear blue athletic shorts and white cotton t-shirts during warmer months; blue sweat pants may be worn in cooler months.  Students must wear athletic, sneaker-type shoes for participation in PE.

School uniforms may also be purchased at various stores throughout the city, including Target, Walmart, K-Mart, JC Penney, Sears, and Old Navy.

Dress Code

On special occasions, we may allow students to have “free dress” days.  On these days, students are still required to adhere to the school’s dress code:

  • No low-waisted pants that show undergarments
  • No halter, tank or spaghetti strap shirts
  • No short skirts that are inappropriate as judged by school staff
  • No short shorts that are inappropriate as judged by school staff
  • No tops that expose the midriff
  • No gang attire
  • No hats, shirts or tops that have sexually explicit, suggestive, derogatory or inflammatory phrases
  • No dangling or hoop earrings, or excessively large jewelry, as judged by school staff
  • No open toed or roller shoes, or shoes with raised heels.

If you have any questions, concerns, or additional information, please feel free to call the school at (323) 654-1930.

Students should come to school neat, clean, and ready to learn.
