Personal Property Policy

The office of the Superintendent has asked that the following information be disseminated to parents regarding PERSONAL PROPERTY OF STUDENTS. The Los Angeles Unified School District does not provide insurance for loss or damage to personal property of students. Therefore, we discourage bringing personal property to school, particularly large sums of money, expensive clothing, jewelry and watches. VALUABLES SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT IN SCHOOL DESKS. Many items of clothing, such as jackets or sweaters, are lost and turned into the lost and found each year. It would be helpful if you would take the time to put your child’s name (first and last) on the clothing items so that they may be returned. Small items of value, such as jewelry will be in the office.

Toys and games are not permitted at school. If a staff member observes a toy or game during school hours, they may be confiscated and a parent or guardian will need to pick up the item in the main office.
Students are permitted to use electronic devices such as cellular phones, iPods, or other electronic signaling devices on campus before and after school ONLY. If such a device is observed by staff during school hours, it shall be confiscated and must be redeemed by a parent or guardian.
All cell phones must be turned off during school hours.
